If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am a big fan of self-growth and positive mindset. Developing a positive mindset is not an easy thing to do. However, it is not impossible. This year of 2018 has been a major year for me when it comes to developing a positive mindset that brings about life-changing results. For that reason, I want to share with you my quick guide to develop and train your mind to think positively and focus on the positive side of life.

#1: Say “NO” to people that reflect negative energy
The first step to develop your positive mindset is to detach yourself first from the people who aren’t giving you the positive energy.
Recently, I started to get into indoor plants. They are lovely and bring me a lot of joy. I also started to notice that the part of the plant that was facing my office’s window tend to produce greener and healthier leaves. I thought that was relevant to bring up this interesting fact because our mind and our brain are just like these plants! The energy you allow to come into our life is either sunshine that fosters its growth or the opposite. In order for you to develop your positive mindset, you first need to stop staying in the “shade” and start to surround yourself with people who are just like sunlight to plants.
I am a firm believer that your heart knows you a lot better than you know yourself. If you always have to prove, to justify or to put on a different persona than who you really are in front of a person or a certain group of people, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate that friendship or relationship in your life.
Oprah once said that the best people for you will want the best for you. The best people for you will be the ones who are always clapping for you, encouraging you to be yourself, to grow and to follow your dreams no matter how impractical they might be. They are also the people who will be there to catch you when you fall. They will love you regardless.
Find that tribe!
#2: Say “NO” to things you hate
The worst thing anyone could do to themselves is saying “YES!” to the things that they absolutely hate, staying in relationships that they know aren’t going nowhere. Learning to say “NO” to the things that don’t align with your values and integrity has to be the best thing that you could ever do.
Don’t be the “YES” person that is always overwhelmed, stressed and doesn’t even have time for herself.
Be the “NO” person that stay laser focus on her goal and does not get distracted by other things that are going on out there!
Be the “NO” person that is not a “people pleaser” and know her worth! Then, add tax!
#3: Have a morning routine to set your mind in the right direction
If you haven’t read this amazing book called “The Miracle Morning” by Hal E, you have to check it out right now. This book is all about developing a morning routine for champions. Starting with meditation, affirmations, visualization to exercising, reading and scribing as S.A.V.E.R.S, this book has transformed my life.
The miracle morning routine has taught me an expensive lesson that I wasn’t taking care of my own self enough. I wasn’t feeding my mind with enough positive affirmations. Developing and committing to a morning routine is a way for you to train your mental muscles to think and act towards the YOU that you want to become.
#4: Get yourself a mentor
Do you have a mentor in your life?
A mentor is someone who doesn’t always tell you what you want to hear but what you need to hear. A mentor is someone who is willing to guide and share with you their mistakes so you don’t have to make them. Your mentor must hold you accountable and show you that you have that special power to do whatever that you want to do. If you don’t have that special mentor in your life, please go and find yourself a mentor.
It is important to know that your mentor is someone who you can relate to and who can relate to you. Someone whose values and principles align with your heart and your growth. Your mentor should be someone who you would want to trade places with.
#5: Realize that you are NOT your circumstances
Another step towards a happy and fulfilled life is realizing that you have options. You can stop blaming others for things that don’t go right in your life and stop blaming circumstances on why you haven’t got to where you want to be.
You see, when you blame your failure or your pain on someone else, you give that person the right to take over your life and you become powerless. But, how could they take over your life when it is yours and not theirs?
Do you know how free and liberating it is to know that your life is within your control? Do you know how happy and positive your life will be if you could stop blaming others and start realizing that you are just a human who is going through life learning from mistakes and growing?
#6: Be grateful
This one is my favorite one. You can never go wrong with gratitude. Life will kick you and bend you backward. Life will give you lemons when you don’t even know how to make lemonade. Gratitude will keep you grounded and will push you through any obstacles in life.
