Why do we need to give up certain things in our life in order to achieve success?

Let me tell you about my biggest fear in life! My biggest fear is waking up one day realizing that my life has not changed and I am at the exact same place as I was in the past. My biggest fear is going through life knowing that I have the ability to be great, to do more and I chose not to live up to my potentials. My biggest fear is not being able to tell the world one day that I have once succeeded in something. Because of these reasons, I want to share with you 10 of the valuable lessons I have learned on my way to find success.

#1: You Have To Give Up Your Pride & Ego.

Have you ever heard of a saying “The bigger the ego, the smaller the success”? Success truly has no room for pride and ego. The common trait that you will see in many successful people is that they are extremely humble and genuine. Ego and pride are your enemies to success. They block your ability to learn and to grow. They block you from being able to build a network of quality people in your life because no one likes to be near a “I know it all” kinda person. Pride and ego also block you from seeing things outside of the box.

#2: You Have To Give Up Your Negative Friends & Family Members.

You know when people say that you are the average of 5 people you surround yourself with. They are not lying to you.

We all have one of those friends and family members who carries the dark cloud with them everywhere they go. It is important to know that when you are pursuing your success, you can’t allow these people to be close to you. Don’t give them the power to have any influence over you. I probably sound a little mean here but throughout my 4 years of being an entrepreneur, I have learned to distance myself from friends and family members who don’t really have anything going on with their life, who don’t support me in anything or bring any value to my life.

#3: You Have To Give Up Doubts.

Because doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. Success doesn’t have room for doubt. The moment you are doubting yourself, you already lost. Have confidence in everything you do and put 100% of your effort in it. You either win or you learn, failure is not in our dictionary. This is why it is so important to surround yourself with the right people who will give you confidence and encouragement to pursue your dreams and goals.

#4: You Have To Give Up Thinking Small.

When it comes to success, you either go big or go home. There is no putting in 99.99% of an effort. In order for you to become successful, you need to stop focusing on the small obstacles that you see in front of you and start focusing on the bigger picture. When I hit a challenge or an obstacle on my way to success, instead of feeling defeated and paying all my attention to why things are not working out, I often take a step back and focus on the big picture, on the better things that are waiting for me once I overcome these difficulties. Thinking small will get you to small income, small lifestyle and small network. Don’t become those ‘small minded’ people! The world has so much to offer to you!

Besides, how can you do anything big by thinking small, right?

#5: You Have To Give Up Your Comfort Zone.

Success and your comfort zone are not good friends with each other. You either choose to hang out with success or stay back in your comfort zone. Comfort zone is comfortable because no one can ever grow in it. If you are wondering why you have been in the same spot for years. Maybe it’s about time you give up your little comfortable bubble and start exploring the world and seeing it for what it is. I love when things get tough and challenging because I know that is my opportunity to grow and advance myself.

#6: You Have To Give Up Who You Were To Become Who You Want To Be.

In order to become successful, you need to change yourself, your mindset and your attitude first. Don’t complain that things are not happening for you when you are not willing to change and work on yourself. You are a work in progress. You have to continuously learn and adjust. Success is not a destination, it is a process. Let’s say goodbye to the old you today and start working on yourself right now. Let’s make a commitment to change and to work on becoming a better version of ourselves every single day!

#7: You Have To Give Up Pleasing Other People.

This is such an important point to keep in mind. On your way to success, you will upset some people. They are the ones who are not happy seeing you doing better. They are the ones who don’t want to see you succeed because it reminds them that they gave up on their dreams. Don’t feel bad! It is your dreams and your life, not theirs. Don’t expect people to understand and approve your journey if it’s not the direction they want to go with their life. I can’t guarantee you that you will be successful if you follow these 10 things, but I can guarantee you that if you live your life trying to please everyone around you, it will cost you your own life and dreams. Be confidence in yourself and be happy! You were born to be great, not to please people around you.

#8: You Have To Give Up Unhealthy Lifestyle.

I think by now, you could already tell that success requires a lot of mental strength. How can you have the great mental health to succeed if you don’t take care of yourself physically? Pay attention to your diet, your physical well-being. The road to success is a long and bumpy one and if you are not healthy and physically strong enough, you are going to give up half way.

#9: You Have To Give Up Your Expectations.

Expectations are dream killers. They take you through emotional roller coaster when things don’t go your way and chances are, things don’t often go your way. Have no expectations in anything or anybody in life. You will live a much happier life and also achieve success much faster. When you have no expectations in other people, you don’t allow them to have control over your emotions. They can’t let you down or disappoint you if you have no expectations of them. Don’t expect anyone to provide you anything if you can provide yourself!

#10: You Have To Give Up Your Excuses.

Excuses, excuses! Do you know that excuses are the number 1 reason why most people don’t succeed?

Your life will never change and your condition will never get better if you don’t decide to do something about it. Your dreams are bigger than your excuses. When you don’t feel like doing something is the exact time when you should do it. The only difference between success and failure is the individual who succeeds simply did what others are not willing to do. If you can’t deposit excuses in your bank account, don’t let the excuses stopping you from achieving the lifestyle that you have always dreamed of.

No one really cares about your excuses and what struggles you are going through. They have their own struggles to deal with. They only care if you are going to make it. Pay attention to your own voice when the excuses are coming up because excuses will not take you to where you want to go.
